He's even uglier here. Looks like some bad guy from old Gundam anime...(and to think I just re-watch G Gundam first episode yesterday...)

Well, in a way it is rather logical.

Now before everyone lunge at me, Myouren Temple is easily accessible compared to the other temples available without risks of getting mauled/maimed/eaten by random youkais. With someone like Byakuren as the leader, I won't be surprised if there are suitors knocking at the door.

And let's face it, Gensoukyo is not Amazon. Guys should not be an unhealthy low ratio to girls.

Exactly my thought.
But I guess there needs to be some kind of Deus Ex Machina in this story to give Youmu some powerup in form of battle experience.^^

Until now, nothing speaks against it, be it canon or general flow of fanon. It's actually the opposite. :D
Also, "should not be" doesn't mean it isn't the case in Gensokyo. It's a world of fantasy after all and my fantasies don't include the likes of that character. Don't know about yours though. jk.

I don't know about you guys but I'm loving this chapter.
Myouren Temple gets a Main Screen Turn On moment, with the screen has a piece of old Japanese parchment. The guy looks like he can only be considered a pretty boy in a show with the style of Akagi. His spellcard summons Sin Sacs. All he's missing are silly catchphrases.

I suggest you read more closely if you think that. And by more closely I mean actually read the canon materials. I'll admit notable characters are mostly female. That's it though.

Other than that, I'm with Nilix. This guy's being played as the comedic loser/stalker who receives many a face palm and exasperated sigh. No need to become so anal on the very low chance he's going to suddenly become gary stu.

He reminds me more of Dessler (Desslok) from Space Battleship Yamato.

And if we go by Flying Treasure Ship as Myouren Temple = the Yamato, the ref is even funnier.
