But it's sadistic westerners that took to such hate and expanded on it, resulting in the scene we see today.

Why do Korea and China come under motherland of yukkuri? It was made in Japan and Korea and China, however close they are to Japan (geologically), are also importers of yukkuri.
Speaking of that, for your information, yukkuri aren't really that wide-spread in Korea. Most Touhou fans are aware of them but not many actually know or like them enough to enjoy them, be it lovingly or sadistically. Heh heh heh. Oh, I'm a Korean myself.

What i meant by motherland was Japan, the first abuse works were from japan and right now they are the main source of them, china added it's own works as well, and about Korea, i'm not sure honestly, i heard some people in forums mentioning that some work also came from Korea, it probably was rumors, so i'm not surprised it was wrong.

Either way, Don't blame the westerners on this one, it was Japan who started the yukkuri and it was japan who started the abuse and torture of yukkuri, to the point that they even started making yukkuris not as nice as the original bunch to show sometimes what makes the abusers tick.
I sometimes suspects it's all a way to adress the whole "Moeblob" thing, as sometimes yukkuris can be cute in an annoying and grating way, so some people who plainly don't like that kind of "cuteness" pick on them, of course, i wouldn't call it cuteness, since, like adding way too much salt or too much sugar to something, it get's so disgusting that it stops being tasty, so you can say moeblobs aren't cute because of how way too much forceful cuteness they show.

So far, I've seen only one single yukkuri series made in Korea. A damn nice one too, by the way. It's basically yukkuri abuse but the owner is a yukkuri lover... in his twenties... and with a short temper. He doesn't torture but he does punish and most of the deaths (yes they do occur) and injuries are caused by the faults of yukkuri themselves or yukkuri Remirya.
Anyway, obviously that's not the only existing Korean yukkuri series, but it's true that the magnitude of fandom for yukkuri is very small in Korea compared to Japan, China or the west.
Well it would be nice, Anelaid, but it always pop out, and ironically by the same people that only wants happy pictures.
Instead of just enjoying the non violent material and comment on it, at least once or twice comes out the "All yukuris pic should be happy family like this, way better than the torture and gore" or "i don't understand how the psychos of OYP would wish to harm something as cute as this?"
It isn't just pointless but also annoying, people, just enjoy the pic, stop talking about the abuse or anything related to that here, i can explain the stuff i know and all, but i can also not mention anything and just enjoy this happy pics, wishing for yukkuris pics being only this or wanting the abuse to stop, here, won't do anything, neverthless will in OYP, since in the end, Japan keeps on delivering the abuse and toture works, and there is nothing we can do about it, just ignore it and focus on the pics we like, and act like if the abuse pic didn't exist.
I mean, there is Guro here in danbooru, yet i don't see people complaining about it on normal pics, and because of that we enjoy the pics way better.
Let's just focus on what we like and not mentione what we don't when it isn't around, since at least the yukkuri abuse pictures aren't here, so, no chance of seeing them and being offended or anything.

We do have some, like the raincoat ones where we've been talking about yukkuri metabolism, but I agree there'd been way too much discussion about yukkuri abuse. Guess I'm among whom to blame, so I apologize too.
