Its probably just a translation issue or the lack of an "earth creature" in Japanese culture.

Actually, Gnome is the common name for the Earth elemental. The latest entries have been based on the 4 primary elementals.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elemental

I'm surprised K-Cross didn't play around with the Salamander concept, I KNOW the guy can make lizard girls look cute/sexy. I'm not familiar with the name Ignis, but I had always assumed it was a fire god of some sort and not the elemental.

It's not that I don't like the Ignis design (I love it), but after looking at Wikipedia, I'm impressed with how he did the Gnome.

Ignis is Latin for Fire, I think.
Does seem alot more literal than the actual mythical beings used for the other Elementals. I'm also confused as to why he didn't call her "Salamander", but odd name aside, she's my favorite.
Regardless of that, I do rather like gnome. I just love her skin tone, and for some reason I really like those huge hands of earth...

Wouldn't something like "Gaia" be more appropriate?...I always thought Gnome was more akin to beings like elfs, dwarfs, or trolls...

Your native language really isn't English, is it?
I think that she'd know her strength.

Habitat: Caves, Mountains Behaviour: Calm, My-pace Food: The Essence of Human Males An elemental of the Earth, formed and tied together by a gathering of Earth energies and demonic energy. A mamono of quiet and relaxed character, she lives in places with caves and mountains with rich earthen content. The Gnome forms a contract with the human male that she has intercourse with - this causes the male to become an "Elementalist", and gain the Gnome's "Power of Earth". Normally somewhat withdrawn and quiet, preferring to stay close to her contracteee, the Gnome occasionally whispers words of desire and lust like a lover, and offers herself up to him, asking for sex. When a Gnome sees a male who catches her fancy, she uses her body to gently envelop him, before placing him in her arms and asking for a contract. The Gnome likes to engage in slow and deliberate intercourse. In the duration of said intercourse the Gnome can be compared to Mother Earth, nourishing the plant that is the Contractee, allowing the "Power of Earth" to flow through him. This allows him to use his elementalist powers. In exchange the contractee sows his seed onto the Earth, providing the Gnome with the nutrients she needs. As a result the Gnome's elemental power increases, and so does the Earth Elemental magic of the Elementalist's. In turn, the elemental/magical energy within the Gnome swells and becomes strong, and fills up her body. Due to this the Gnome becomes sexually amorous and refuses to let go of her partner once intercourse has started, much like how the earth does not let go of the roots of the flora planted in it. Due to the simultaneous flow of Earth Energy and Mamono/Demonic Energy into the contractree, he becomes a strong incubus with an equally strong sexual appetite. However, he is dependent on her for this power, hence highlighting the relationship between "Plant" and the "Earth". As they are somewhat "Corrupted/Polluted" Earth elementals, the resultant situation is similar to the natural corruption of the earth/soil. Due to the soil being infused with mamono/demonic energy, planted crops and vegetables/fruits normally eaten by humans undergo demonization and change into "demonic plants" which usually grow in the demonic realm. Examples of such plants include the "Tentacle plant" and the "Fruit of Desire" commonly taken by mamono to upkeep their beauty and sexual appetites. Mamono such as the Alaraune and Mandragora also benefit from this spectacle, due to them being plants. Although the rich soil makes the demonic fruits/plants very nutritious and full of energy, hence causing it to taste delicious to humans; they are unfortunately infused with mamono/demonic energy, and as such upon oral intake causes humans to either become mamono or incubi. This is one of theorized reasons as to why there are such a large variety of mamono and strange plants in the world, and in turn, its changed appearance.
