Alchemy Star - Florine
Drawing thought process:
This is my study art! Secondary production tachi-e drawing, this is my favourite one prpr~
When I was still with Magicleaders I only drew the character line draft, didn't think much about the backgrounds, back then I really liked Florine as a character (Because white hair hehe), after I got more inspiration I then added the colour, effects and background
1. The first thought for this drawing was a suitable character pose, Florine's weapon set contains a dagger and shurikens, so maybe a frame capturing a fighting pose in CQC, with that I used a lot of assassin themed images and videos as reference material. Combining the character's own personality traits, I chose the head facing left and body to the right, leg up and shift to the left as if she is wielding the dagger in preparation for an attack (Leaning left and right can make the character appear more active, appear more realistic)
2. As for the background initially I had no inspirations, I found a few different kinds of tachi-e and cutscene arts, placed them under the character to see how the colour combines. I found out that the colour theme of the character pairs really well with grassfields glowing in the dark, like the yellowish green hue combines well with a bit of gray (since the character herself originally has yellow and grey in her palette), so I decided on grass and boulder foundation
3. Effects: Most electricity groups are either purple or yellow, since the foundation is grass, and in game the colour is yellow, so I chose the yellow lightning effect. The lightning effects has rough and detailed areas to appear more motion active, also I dragged it towards the direction of the character's pose (The lines), direction of the line and the package is centered around the character. Lastly I added some white floating petals to accompany the character's white hair (Spots), floating petals can make the art appear more motion active
Mostly along those lines, these are my notes from my study, peer reviews welcome, since I am still a newbie artist there might be errors, feel free to point out
