I like to think of it the other way around: that Yui is becoming fully mature by incorporating the personalities of the other members of the band into her own.

Considering that this happened long ago in the manga already (which is why this picture exists in the first place), I wouldn't say that this is hilarious in hindsight.
I swear when I made my comment over two years ago I made it because I had seen that scene in the second season, and thought it was clever that the artist compared it to that scene in Fight Club. Therefore it is hilarious, but not in hindsight.
