The green-haired ( it's natural ) girl doesn't mind sharing a bed with the blue-haired ( it's not dyed ) girl, and vice versa.

They know that the only reason they even share a bed is because they cannot properly use it without each other. ( don't misunderstand, don't get it wrong; it's not that like ) They know how difficult it is to get even a wink of sleep without waking up an instant later, with adrenaline rushing through their veins and fear in their breaths and horrific nightmares imprinting themselves in their minds, over and over and over again.

But that was before they discovered the calm of each other's presence.

Of course, that applies to when they are asleep. Most of their waking moments spent together aren't peaceful. When they're talking, they're usually debating. ( read: bickering ) Or plotting. ( that's worse... probably ) But despite that, they get along well. They work well together. They're so comfortable and so close that they tolerate ( put up with ) each other's quirks and other freaky habits.

That includes the blue-haired ( yes, it's natural; what, you want some proof? ) girl's distressing habit of sleeping in the nude. The green-haired ( no, it isn't dyed; you need some fucking evidence? ) girl still finds that rather disturbing, but she has long grown used to it. Besides, it's better than the sleepless, restless nights they used to have by themselves. After countless such weeks and months, both can admit that they'd rather sleep in the nude together than not sleep at all.

Which is, thankfully, not necessary. The blue-haired girl wraps herself in a light blanket, and the green-haired girl goes to sleep in a tank and boxers and uses a separate blanket. They're pretty close, but not that close and most certainly not "like that". ( not that they have any problems with others who are 'like that'; it's just that they themselves aren't )

So, while this isn't the most perfect arrangement, they can both agree that it's the best they can do. But this doesn't keep the green-haired girl from grumbling in the morning, from time to time.

Yes, she likes that she can sleep without jolting awake ( not dead, not dying-- right? ). She likes that a lot. That's why she tolerates ( puts up with ) her nude friend.

And that's why her blue-haired friend tolerates ( puts up with ) with the other girl's bitching. She'd be pretty damn pissed, too, if she found herself on the cold, hard floor.

But damn, her green-haired friend points out crossly, the worst part is that she doesn't.

So... um, yeah.

These two original characters were, uh, originally created by a close friend in junior high. Claire and Kairi (temporary names of the blue and green, respectively) were part of a magical girl group that she created. (The other two girls who belonged was a blonde girl and her long-lost, pink-haired sister. It was... Sailor Moon-ish.)

I don't consider this fanart because I helped develop them. Additionally, I've been playing around with these characters and their circumstances for a while now, so they're pretty much different from their prototypes-- and thus, pretty much mine.

So yeah. Claire and Kairi (seriously, their names need to change) attend a large, private boarding school in the middle of a metropolis as charity students (aka scholarship students). Despite the fact that their blonde, (eventual) friend will, predictably, turn out to be their "leader" (something they don't agree to for a long time) and their long-lost fairy princess (with some complications on the side), Claire and Kairi are pretty much the main characters.

Er, what else... Well, they're roommates and the best of friends. (And they're het.) When they don't sleep in the same bed, they suffer from some pretty shitty nightmares that they can't ever remember. Which pisses them off because they'd rather know what it is they're afraid of than be senselessly afraid.
