    Aren't mikos commonly supposed to be descended from supernatural beings, though?

    Even setting aside Sanae being part goddess, I remember seeing things like stories of famous mikos and sorcerers and even the emperor being descended from kitsune when I was looking up Japanese myth...

    It's supposed to be an explanation for their spiritual powers to be descended from spiritually powerful beings.

    Not too sure about the rest, but if I remember correctly, the very first emperor was said to be descended from Amaterasu herself. Or one of the other gods. Not a kitsune.
