I dont get why Kanji is there. But Rise as Catherine is just perfect.

Kanji is a good choice for his usual wacky antics and conflicted personality. Souji would still be cool and unflappable. Even between cleavage he'd still have one hand in his pock... erm.. yeah.

He's a good choice since she prob like's him despite his attitude in the game Naota would be the 2nd Katherine 4 reason lol

I find this pretty funny now that the English voice actors of these two characters are also voicing those characters in Catherine.

What? How did she ever have feelings for Kanji? When you rescued her, she had a crush on the MC. She can be flirtatious and tease the MC, Youske, and Kanji but even if you don't Max out her S.Link... She still is in love with him.
She's rather childish and possesive, she pouted when Protagonist asked her if the new idol is cute, telling him that when she's still around, he musn't call another girl "cute". Rise also shown her competitive side at many occasions, and she likes to teases the others, such as teasing about Yukiko's insecurity and cooking. Rise is the only one who cried when the Protagonist left, and she will confess her love both when the Protagonist maxed her S.Link and when she's running for his train. Never really anything towards Kanji in a love way.

It's because Kanji is in-the-closet gay, which makes it hilarious in hindsight.
