I'm intrigued about this golden-folk: What's the story behind? Did it originated from a terrible Chinese Gundam rip-off? Or is it a parody of said rip-offs?

I don't know really, but her uniform is a bit reminiscent of the old Gundam pilot uniform, specifically the field officers (notably Char).

Adding the Orkz tag since the Waaaaagh! is their specific cultural phenomenon.
