Despite this, I think Ran/Utsuho have a slightly better chance to win over Mokou/Koishi, partially because I see Ran/Utsuho working as a team instead of two individuals, and I think Ran will be able to overcome Koishi's subconscious manipulation.

Given how much the announced played up the match, I can't help but worry that it'll end up being very brief....

I hope Ran comes up with a complicated plan only for Okuu to fail it but end up winning anyway. I think Ran\Okuu are much stronger than the other team, but I wonder if the underdogs will win this time round?

Add to that the fact that she's the only human amongst the EX Bosses (albeit an immortal one), in comparison to a vampire who can destroy anything, the pet of a reality warper, a goddess, someone who can manipulate your actions via the subconscious, and an ancient shapeshifter.

It probably doesn't help that Spell Practice makes her actual fight seem easier than it actually is.

Fanon also says that Cirno is an idiot even though she was the only character to realize whats going on in PoFV from the very beginning.

hard to tell as Kaguya doesn't have much experience by the time of IN properly dueling as opposed to any possible bloody shoot-slugfests. Kaguya however fights her fullest in IN's final fight (and in StB she has a rather fierce spell card that Satori copies in DS) Eirin on the other than holds back, but seems very experienced in various forms of combat.

I see Nue and Koishi on the weaker side, but their strengths lie in indirect methods, not straightforward ones.

I would have wanted to see Mokou in a fighter because I feel she'd do her best in one.

Fanon's unique to everyone who counts themselves a fan. Power level discussions aside, I'm just gonna be rooting for Mokou.

My vote goes to the team that contains the Yakumo family member.

Seeing how Mokou and Koishi are at a power disadvantage, they'll have to fight smarter not harder, or else they'd end up like Iku and Tewi, who made the mistake of trying to fight Death and an Oni Deva harder.

You might want to discuss the strategies BEFORE the fight, Ran.

Exactly, Okuu is smart, she's just only really smart at one or two things. (Muclear Physics and fighting I believe) People call her an idiot mostly because she's flighty, easily distracted and takes time to think, and most of that can be explained in that SHE IS A CROW.

Actually her bullet patterns are very simple for a final boss. It is just that the suns she is throwing around can fill most of the screen which makes her hard. She is rather mediocre fighter but insanely powerful.

Had she been smarter she could have been ex-boss material.

*scratches head* Nothing comes to mind right now. Conversations here on danbooru quoting ZUN as saying Eirin defers to her princess and refrains from using her full strength is the best I can come up with, but I don't recall any sources being cited.

And as a plot point, the amazing strength of her former students, the Watatsuki sisters, would indicate that their teacher would have somewhat comparable strength, at least to my way of thinking.

Cirno IS an idiot... Its just that she is nowhere near as stupid as the fanon tends to exagerrate! Her stupidity comes mainly from her overwhelming confidence in herself (which is also her greatest strength in of itself), her short attention span (characteristic of even the smartest fairies as the Michievous Fairy Trio shows us), and her childish behavior (also characteristic of fairies).

Except Cirno, as a fairy, is a representative of nature so her overwhelming confidence DOES have some basis. Short attention span also isn't saying much since Remilia has been (canonically) shown to be just as fickle.

It's in her official profile in IN. From the wiki: "In truth, she has power well beyond that of Kaguya's. She saves her power and maintains it at a lower level out of respect for Kaguya."

Though obviously the idea that Kaguya is helpless without Erin is pure fandom.
