Ngl this meme really feels like it came from 2017 rather than 2025.
I think is fair to believe that it shows more the perception outsiders have of KC in general today, a perception that didnt really changed since 2017(suzutsuki being the last more popular shipgirl from that year that they still remember)due to KC declining in visibility at least in the western sphere and AL becoming later on the first thing that people think when someone mentions shipgirls which ends with this meme portraying shipgirls as horny which is also what outsiders think of AL in general.
Also im surprised there isnt an AL version of this meme.

i mean... KC done and continues to make no effort to be playable by non fluent japanese speakers. and in a way i think they dont even want it to be. the vehement refusal to even attempt to reach non JP players tells me they actually dont want it to be super big outside of japane, me suspects because of they fear or feared, western users flamming the game, especially US/UK because the Abyss Fleet is a direct depiction of the ww2 Allied Navy. and i know that there are now Allied ship girls on KC, still doesnt change the fact the Abyss Fleet is meant to represent or is heavily inspired by the Allied Navy.
also Azur Lane in a way was the nail in the coffin for KC's global fame, AL has basically sweept most if not all the interest that people had on KC, and to top it off, the sexual appeal. that basically does one over KC. and we know what most western gacha players are after, and its not what KC offers. so i imagine the people running KC by now dont even consider even a basic translation to be worth it.
to top it off, recently i mentioned the 'Kancolle' and i genuinely had to explain what it even was.

I feel you, man. Lately there's this ero-guro game about dismembering biogirls that's 100% kancolle ripoff and nobody else but me noticed that.

Pretty sure this meme uses those particular characters only due to particular members in the commissioner? requester?s community. Source: Me, as one of them.

Because in a sense , KC doesn't need the oversea market. No matter how much profit it could bring the japanese. They has always been this way , about anything and everything. AL is entirely irrelevant when brought up to the comparison with KC. Especially seeing the path each game took. One game thrive by coomer bait , other living on live support for years and the playerbase dedication to live on. And KC itself doesn't bring that much money anyway. It is the collaboration between the brand "Kantai Collection" itself with other in order to bring in revenue. AL itself wasn't and never gonna be alike to KC beside having the mark "Shipgirls". Funny how one trying to claim AL itself is the final nail in the coffin for KC oversea venture when itself never and has never tried to do such thing.
