I won't edit it for now, since someone'll just start a pool war or something, but if other people agree, I'll remove it from the pool.

Normally I'd agree with you, but considering how there's only one date-able male known in Gensokyo, you could say "Nobody likes Yuuka" fits.

I -think- ZUN himself has said there are as many male youkai as female, but he isn't interested in writing about them.

Of course, fandom makes their own assumptions considering their own desires.

I don't know about that (in fact, some sources state that ZUN says there are more men than women), but he did say that if someone criticizes a doujin work for not following canon, then he/she is free to answer that ZUN allowed it. It's only natural that people want some love stories, but obviously introducing an original male character for the sake of making love stories is troublesome and may attract unfavorable reaction. So the general yuri pairing can't really be helped after all.

As for canon, yes, obviously there would be roughly equal number of men in Gensokyo: at least enough for the whole population to survive. It's obvious... or it should be. Still, it doesn't mean there would be no homosexuality in Gensokyo.

actually.... girls are more open to the idea unlike guys with their homophobic tendencies, find lesbian or bi-girls are more tolerant about that. even the straight one actually...often quite understanding.

off course, it must be reviewed in case by case basis. At any way, a harmless kiss might be okay, but sex? that's another story.

Come on, really? "Because girls are more open to homosexuality, these two might be"? You catch yourself there with "it must be reviewed in case by case basis", and I'm guessing you read the rest of the comic.

They're good friends, Yuuka gets blind stinking drunk and confesses her love to Komachi, and gets upset when, instead of Komachi returning the kiss, gets shoved to the ground and yelled at.

People don't act like themselves when they're drunk. Komachi's reaction seems perfectly rational. But then I've never been in that sort of a situation so WHOOPS I GUESS I KNOW SQUAT

It doesn't matter the gender-preference, most people don't like others drunkly kissing them suddenly like that.
