Koharu is also making a mental note that daddy dearest is either a tad bi-polar, or has some masochistic tendencies.

Perhaps she's referring to the incident where Kyon almost decked her.

I think that 'passion' might be a better translation than 'temper' here.

I'm not so sure. The way I read that last panel, Koharu is misunderstanding Haruhi's use of "激しい" to mean actual, physical violence on Kyon's part. There probably is a better way to represent this than "temper", but it also doesn't seem to me that "passion" gets the joke across.

I would translate it as "It seems you are as vigorous as papa!" It's usually used in the sexual meaning, thus Koharu's double-take.

Seriously, guys. Even "passion" implies Alternate Kyon has some wife-beating tendencies yet to be explored in this and the other strip's universes.

The first panel looks awesome, but the second has her lips all wrong. And I cannot be the only one squicked by Haruhi bleeding all over her son, which this strip treats as comedy.

Well, some of the Dousei strips, which happen in the same universe but a couple of years prior to this, imply and sometimes outright show that Kyon and Haruhi sometimes engage in light S&M (surprisingly he's the S and she's the M). Also considering that Kyon has brought up how spanking gets Haruhi wet on an occasion or two, this doesn't seem terribly off base or imply that he's a wife-beater.

Failing that, it's a joke 4koma, which also accounts for the absurdity of the facial features sometimes. It's not meant to be taken as something hyper serious or even canon, so there's no need to get hugely worked up over it.

Considering that utter shit like the Endless Eight debacle is canon - what with it coming straight out of the light novels and all -, I have no problem with adding works that do make fans of the Haruhi franchise proud - like the Haruhi-chan shorts and, yeah, even this fan creation - to my own fanon. Sometimes the people calling the shots commit serious bummers and engaged fans have to pick up the slack.

Kids actually execute the fallout-headbutt really well. Pretty sure I've been hit with it by every one of my nephews.

My toddler nephew has developed the same violent way of showing affection. In addition to headbutt-kisses, there's also "hug uncle when he's sitting down, while simultaneously jumping on his crotch". Love hurts.
