爱理诗 (Alice Rosetta) 是我的个人科幻作品“电子之心”的主角，这是她的前期概念设计之一。

爱理诗在这一版中被设定为人类第一个具备真人工智能的机器人。在这之前她还有过纯人类、纯人类转为机器人的设定。我本来只对创作一个以机器人动物代替人类的世界观感兴趣，但考虑到故事的代入感，所以想要设计一个“具有读者视角”的主角。因为是“普通人闯入了神奇世界”的套路，所以致敬了儿童文学名著《爱丽丝梦游仙境》，将主角的名字定为 Alice (爱丽丝)。又因为在设定上让她发挥连接过去和未来的桥梁的作用，将主角的姓定为 Rosetta (罗塞塔)，致敬刻有三种语言的文字，帮助现代人破译了古埃及文字的罗赛塔石碑。

2013 年时爱理诗的中文名应该还是洋名“爱丽丝·罗塞塔”，后来才改为了更本土化的“爱理诗 (中文名以爱为姓，理诗为名，不带罗塞塔)”。虽然名字是洋名，但是设定上是中国团队设计制造的机器人，所以有意识地选择了全黑发，以“联合国的国际合作成果”和“头发内建光伏发电薄膜”这两个理由来圆这个洋名华风的设定。她的服装也是基于中国传统服装设计的，但当时还没有“航天机器人”这个设定，只是为了强调“爱丽丝”这一层致敬而采用了来自迪士尼动画电影中的爱丽丝的天蓝色服装。爱理诗标志性的裙翼从这时也已经确定了，但并没有后来的内建推进器，纯粹是符号化的装饰物。

爱理诗在这一版中被设计成了一个白脸猫，原因大概率是因为当时不会画人。现在光看这个眼睛的大小就有点崩，要是没了猫耳、猫尾的掩护，估计整个设计都立不住。而且我当时还对“兽人画师”这个标签的自我意识过剩，或许有一点“怎么着都不想画人类”的想法在里面。

尽管在这一版设计中使用的概念要么很随便，要么参考物引用得一点也不含蓄，但爱理诗的气质其实已经大体找准了。因为我意识到她是一个比白云更加有趣的角色，于是她逐渐代替了白云，成为了电子之心的主角。她在 2020 年有了一版新的设计，基本将她的造型确定了下来。

Alice is the protagonist of Electric Hearts. This is one of her early design concepts back in 2013.

In earlier iterations, Alice’s nature was undecided. She was sometimes a human girl, and sometimes a human turned robot. In this iteration, her character was finally settled as human’s first robot with true artificial intelligence.

In the early iterations of Electric Hearts, most characters are anthropomorphic animal robots. To bridge the audience with the fictional world, I purposefully designed Alice to be an ordinary human girl. She behaves like a viewpoint character similar to Alice from Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland — which is also where she got her first name from.

Alice’s family name is Rosetta. The name was chosen after the Rosetta Stone, a stele artifact with 3 different kinds of letters that helped to decipher the Ancient Egypt glyphs — a bridge between the past and now. Alice is also supposed to be a bridge between the past and the future in Electric Hearts’ story.

Many of Alice’s key design elements first appeared in this iteration. Namely, the black hair, the cat ears and tail, the Chinese style costume, and the wing-like skirt. They look stiff in this version, but clear enough to represent the ideas. Later iterations would turn these ideas into a more elegant design.

Alice is a white face cat here. I don’t remember the exact reason for this decision, but I guess it was an attempt to cover up bad human anatomy. Alice’s eyes are way too big here, and her facial structure looks off. Without the cat ears and tail, her design could look even worse.

Although not very gracefully done, this iteration of Alice’s design was nevertheless very important. Most of her current design elements were first introduced in this iteration, and she had become an interesting character with her new settings. Alice would later replace Cloud White as Electric Hearts’ protagonist.

A newer iteration of this design was created in 2020.
