Yeah, I could never understand that in the demo. That super don't hold back attack when you get hit.

In the wikia, they called it "death trance mode" or something, like normal trance mode but it activates when you´re hit. You still lose a life, though.

This system needs some work. You need a full trance gauge to activate your trance (without killing yourself, of course) but having it 1.3rd full removes your ability to death bomb. Everywhere in between, you're vulnerable, which makes the system do far more harm than good.

I guess people are going to have to learn how to bomb before they get hit.
