Well Mystia did confess to mokou, though not how she wanted so yes, very happy ending. Really, this ending was perfect for this series.
I do wonder though if the artist will have a follow up. they've been on this story for 2 years now so im curious of what other work they will do.

I'm calling a mulligan! This is not the true end, this an end to troll us all. I can see it now, in a month or two we'll get the real, emotional, end that will feel good, emotionally, and provide appropriate closure, emotionally, to this story.

Oh... I expected something heart-warming for the finale. I don't know if I have the wrong generalization here, but the Japanese code of medatashi medetashi really doesn't fit with me. The "Welcome home." "I'm back" kind of ending, for example.

Well, what matters the most isn't the conclusion. Though I'd have loved it greatly if it were more conclusive, I'm very satisfied with this story. I still can't forget how I was impressed with Keine's actions.

That was very unfulfilling. All that build up for this joke of a climax? This is TROLLING. Mokou never even fully said what she had to say; the rest just filled in for her.

Thus, that can not be the end. Or at least, let there be omake.

We read the comic on easy mode, we got the easy mode ending.

Wait! I have to agree with Unnamed Soldier. There was just way too much foreshadow in the webcomic and the doujin for it to end like this. And there's Moukou's past and Mystia herself hasn't come clean about her evil deeds as a Youkai, even if she has changed a lot since then. This can only mean one thing: SPIN-OFF. I WANT TO BELIEVE. EDIT: Now that I look back, it would be a sequel, not a spinoff. Whoops!

most likely. Theres too much set up for things to end. I feel this could be the end to MystiaxMokou, but not the end to mitsumoto's Gensokyo.
Also, Mystia still doesn't know about Mokou's immortality (in the prequal doujin, it is somewhat vaguely stated by yuyuko that mokou is immortal).
This alone makes me feel if theres a contuniation, it will show mokou and mystia's relationship on the next level and showing the pasts they both regret.

This is it. I was NOT expecting that little box at the left end of the strip, really. I mean, he has so much MORE to work with!

This ending was way too sudden. I´m hoping for a sequel where SOMEBODY confesses SOMETHING love related (aside from Keine).

It´s one of the loveliest romance comics EVER and it deserves a better ending, maybe not with fireworks and master sparks, but at least a kiss for GOD´S SAKE!

It almost looks as if the author was finally harassed into forcing it to end. Or maybe got as sick of how long as it was taking as everyone else. Either way this does feel like an anticlimax. Heck even cutting it off in the middle of Mystia's confession would have been a beautiful emotional sting. This is just... weak.

Non-the-less I did thoroughly enjoy the story up until that goddamn butterfly.

I kind of liked this ending because it was unexpected and a pattern I don't remember seeing before, but it was rather sudden and I think it could have been at least a few komas longer. Even just one more could have been enough for me.

The story in itself provided a lot of depth throughout the series; however, the ending makes me feel a little empty, it seemed abrupt. It was like "moment spoiler Marisa" then "hey, you kind of confessed, let's have a drink Reimu", all in all, I'd say an abrupt ending is better no ending.

I'd say "better it end soon than drag out" but after two years I don't think that really applies anymore... As usual, his use of panels and the closure between them is masterful; his handwriting, night unreadable. But this definitely seems like a setup for an epilogue. He swore up and down for a happy end, and I'd be willing to bet he knows this isn't what we had in mind.

well this is a pretty good place to end it,
but if it ever continues as a story about their life as a couple I wouldn't mind at all.

I can only hope he does a spin-off, like chymesrb said. A bit disappointing of an ending, but... eh.

In its own way, this was quite a memorable experience, and I'm happy to have been able to see it unfold... I applaud the man for his unique artistic style and masterful storytelling, even if it did entail a lot of waiting and cliffhangers.

Actually, the said doujinshi was uploaded, but Mitsumoto personally contacted Danbooru requesting that it be removed. He didn't mind the other images and comic strips though.
