I wonder what the Wii Fit Trainer girl has been up to since the Wii got phased out of history? Did she get absorbed into another series or game? Or is she just gone forever?
Smash bros seems honestly where old Nintendo IPs go to "Die" or live in obscurity. I mean, would anyone even remember Captain Falcon if not for Smash? And its been over a decade since Earthbound came out for Ness.

Sounds like it's saving them from obscurity. Take the Fire Emblem characters. If they didn't start being included in Melee, their franchise might've never been released in the US (or it would at least take longer). Even just making characters a trophy gives them a lot more visibility and marketing potential, even if they don't always follow through with it (*cough* Mother 3 *cough* ).
Though it would've been neat if the Wii Fit trainers got a cameo in Ring Fit Adventure.

Over three decades, in fact.
Ring Fit Adventure honestly seems like a big wasted opportunity for Nintendo to NOT re-use a character design. And given how fond Nintendo is of gaining more history with their franchises, weird they didn't double down on the wii trainers for future fitness games.
