Saffira, Queen of Dragons
I ran outta time again!
Saffira is my dragon for March, a personal favorite of mine. Not everyone knows this but in her card art Saffira’s eyes are actually slightly open. She has all the majesty and grace of the divine descending from heaven, and a facial expression like she only just woke up and she’s already done with it. Like, imagine being a goddess of light, and not being a morning person. It’s endearing to me, and it’s a shame I can’t figure out how I would draw that.
Which reminds me, It had to be 2-3 years ago I tried to draw her and Palutena, just hangin out, but I wanted to draw casual clothes… and I can’t design clothes for the life of me. So I scrapped it. Even all this month I tried to find a good pose for her, and even that’s kinda awkward, but I got got something done and that’s all that matters.
Anyway, Saffira became relevant recently, partly associated with a “new” yugioh archetype, and they made her a human for some reason. (Expect art of that soon?) I guess even they couldn’t decide what to do with her original design so they just made a new one.
I haven’t figured out what the new “voiceless” lore is about yet, there’s a church, a gypsy woman, and something about god help the outcasts or whatever. But as for Saffira, she doesn’t seem all that happy in the new cards either. So from what I can gather, considering the trademark pose she’s always in, I’ve concluded that this dragon… really needs a hug.
how I would if I could…
Oh yeah, Happy Easter!
