Looks like its not going to be the curbstomp that some people were fearing. And it finally looks like its going to be some give and take.
Remilia attacks the seconds and throws Marisa. The seconds use two dolls to catch Marisa because momentum isn't such a big deal. Remilia attacks the seconds again. Patchy takes a punch like a champ and Alice attacks Remi with dolls.
Okay, so. Why are the seconds having a more satisfying fight with Remi than either Marisa or Nitori did?
Pyrolight_200% said: Considering she was attacked from behind one would have expected her to end up a little more like Sanae when flan hit her the first time.
Knowing Patchouli, the moment she heard Alice going "Remilia is gone!", she might have just set up her barrier. That, and unlike Flandre, Remilia knows better than to cause any fatal damage. I don't think she will want to get a disqualification (And a friend's corpse).
Something like a blow that won't kill but send the victim bedridden with broken bones. Unfortunately for her, Patchy has a surprise barrier to weaken the impact.

Well not totally fatal damage by her comment anyway. :P
Now assuming that that doesn't explain Alice though. Even if Patchy absorbed the bulk of the impact as the "wall" I would have expected Alice to be in about the same shape as Marisa.
This of course leads to two questions.
Marisa's mass + velocity - dolls mass + magic? = stop?
and
Alice does use stings of magic after all, so how does that work again?
holy crap, 400 strips later! Now, that's a good way to use little details

because Remilia is tired, and Patchouli and Alice have done pretty much nothing, being as fresh as they can be.
I can't wait to hear about how Kirisame Familiar is totally still an underdog team and therefore I'm factually wrong for not thinking it's incredibly fascinating to watch them godmode.

I think you are taking Patchy's statement entirely too literally. Even omniscience-through-planning Patchy surely doesn't have the ability to predict precisely how long she'd have been knocked unconscious from an attack she blocked.

Whereas Reimu's purported plot armor is doing so much for her lately, you see.
Yeah Marisa familia's tactics aim to apply special weapons against Remilia and wreck Reimu's sense of balance so they can grapple her easier. Remilia's hoping her little show can buy Reimu time to recover.

And I can't wait to see how people still don't get what getting prepared means. Anyone care to tell me just how many supports is the Kirisame Familia getting again? More than one single impromptu rabbit, if anything.
It's like in an rpg, where a group of kids find a certain item in order to defeat a boss that was previously unbeatable. Is that cheating now?

But you can still use common senses and gauge how severe the impact can be. You know you'll be breaking bones if you fall from a 10-storey building. Or in this case, you will at least know that a bullet will put you in a coma or kill you if you haven't put on a Kevlar. Patchy could be exaggerating on this, but from what I know, she has a constitution lower than even a normal human.
And yea, Reimu might have just recovered from all this.
Edit: Do understand that as the translator, I take no pleasure seeing the same "Another asspull! This is crap compared to Heavenly Sky vs Lotus Star White Tiger!" or complains about the artist's choice in not focusing on both participants of the Scarlet 75% on nearly every pages. Keep it down, people.

Well you kinda have to expect it considering what it is a fairly accurate parody of.

This may well be a failing of mine, but I have to admit I'm having a very hard time reading your overall stance as anything other than "Things should actually happen the way they should happen on paper." Like, you wanted a 10-odd strip match where Reimu and Remilia completely dominated the entire time because that's what they were supposed to do given the physical abilities and limitations of the two teams.
Is this mode of thinking how you feel, or am I missing something? Honest question.

Nope but I do like the idea where the situation can be reversed, the top tier in danmaku who are here at a disadvantage get stomped.
I dislike extensive fudging and rule changes just to keep the matches "balanced". There needs to be more steamroll matches where there should be.

Nope I said (tucked into a lot of griping) that I wanted a fight where Nitori and Marisa were on an extreme time-limit based on their ways of powering up.
Dragging the fight into 40-50 (likely) strips for no real good reason is tedious and annoying.
Had Remiu lost in the first pages that would have been fine. In fact I was kinda hoping it would end there. BTW, yes her ability was a huge asspull.
Basically is seems like this fight is being dragged on just because it is two main characters while stepping on a lot of the setup for the match and previous "canon rules".
Is this mode of thinking how you feel, or am I missing something? Honest question.
I think you took my rather great distaste of an setting up a set of rules that get changed as needed in the wrong way.
It's to be expected since that is what Muscle more or less was but it still is annoying.
P.S.
In the end it doesn't matter who wins but it should have been a very short fight.

I wasn't talking about cheating. (Well, okay, sort of, but only indirectly, and I'd only have been using that word for it because everybody knows immediately what I mean by it.) I was complaining about how various people seem to think that I'm required to agree with their opinions of how interesting the result is. I apologize if this has resulted in any hurt feelings, as that certainly wasn't my intention.
As long as you've brought it up, honestly, Patchy's recovery is the most interesting thing any Kirisame Familiar teammate has done in a while, just because she wasn't prepared. Oh, she was "prepared" in the sense that she had a way to counter what Remi did, and it worked, but she was "unprepared" in the sense that she was clearly surprised and had to react to something. There's a sense that she could have failed, and that makes all the difference.

If you suddenly fell three feet without expecting it, you probably wouldn't even be injured except perhaps for a few bruises. You would, however, be a little freaked out (well, I would, anyway), and if it had been the work of someone who could have just as easily made you fall fifty feet if they'd made an error in judgement, you'd probably be rather upset at them for it.
That's how I'm reading Patchy here--it's not "Remi used more force than she should have when she attacked me" so much as "SDFJKLASDJKL."

I'm also interested on seeing this.
A lot of us have already resigned to Scarlet 75% winning this one, so dei shirou might at least have Kirisame Familia give them the fight of their lives.
Honestly a decisive win for Kirisame Familia could have been pulled off with the right execution. Instead what we're getting is something that is taking longer than it should. It'd be one thing if the teams were truly equal, but in such a case, things should be pretty short as I'm sure if Batman's preparations fails to drop or considerbly weaken his foe, he'd be in trouble.
All right, that's different from what I had gathered initially, but it's still very...different, I guess, in the interest of avoiding further instigation.
See, as far as wrestling fans go, the only time they want a really short match is when the match is expected to suck, like Big Show vs. Mark Henry this Sunday. The match we have here has had a good amount of buildup over the course of the series and is a match between Gensokyo's two most prominent figures (plus some other less relevant people). If a match of this magnitude were happening in real life and you entered a wrestling community and started hoping out loud for a really short match, you'd be labelled a troll instantly, whether you actually were or not.
It helps now to know where you are coming from, it's just that you hold an opinion I have literally *never* seen held by a wrestling fan before.

Disregard them then if necessary. And no offense taken.

As I stated previously, Patchy might just turn on her barrier (And anticipate for the worst) when she noticed Remilia's absence. The reaction time might be short, but it's still possible.
If anything, at least Patchy was not standing still when Remilia rammed straight at them. If that happened, then yes, it's safe to call that asspulling. The fact that she was still knocked down means she's not foreseen all of Remilia's actions here.
See, as far as wrestling fans go, the only time they want a really short match is when the match is expected to suck, like Big Show vs. Mark Henry this Sunday.
Heh I come from the old school of wrestling, ie Hulk Hogan, Macho Man, Andre the Giant era.
I might be just reminiscing but I recall there was more rofl stomping matches back then. Sure there was the "turn around... and around and around" (usually hulk hogan), but short matches were there to get the crowd indignant at how fast their "hero" lost.
Heck sometimes even the really big matches would have a quick conclusion but have shenanigans after and such.
I guess a great example would be the first Kaguya vs Moko match and the Moriya vs Scarlet 200%. The latter was nicely paced (being 3 matches in 1) while the previous was just way too long.
Since the Moriya vs 200% match the other matches really had been padding the matches too much. There really has not been a quick decisive victory since Hell Residents and Mystic Beasts.

Heh see above, trolling can work in the right circumstances.

Well it is a cross between old school wrestling and general "reversal of fortune in the touhou universe" sort of thing.
