    They just met, the girl was just lost and Yuugi was simply showing her home ;_;

The girl had nothing to do with the oni, but the man killed her anyways.

Ever thought about how many fathers and brothers died in the previous few strips just for entertainment? How many had to starved to death since they were ordered to process grain into sake instead of food for their families?

It's dramatic but also well deserved.
If it took a little girl to teach an oni what pain is, then this is a good price to pay.

I wasted precious half an hour of my exam preparation writing a four-paragraph essay to inform you what ridiculously blatant assumptions you made, what implications of this comic you missed or ignored, and what illogicality made your comment completely nonsensical. Then I wasted another ten minutes after deleting that comment, trying to sum that essay in just one paragraph, and realized it was impossible to avoid making it an insult that has no profanity.

    Ugh. Good night.

I like bastard. I mean, not cool bastard, I like coward, bastard, weak man who kill the weaker to get revenge. An Oni is invincible against human, but a human isn't. What better way to get revenge for your eyes that to kill the only girl that has accepted your foe?

I love this man. He is depicted like a caricature, He is weak, he is a bastard... But he fight for himself. Yuugi take his eyes, and maybe his pride.
With our moral, we can all say "DAMN THAT MAN IS A SON OF *bip*". But seriously, I don't like fantasy character in a real world and if I couldn't kill my worst foe, who take me an eye, if I couldn't be sure to live in peace... year, I will make it too.

And so what? you will vote down because of a... different opinion? I am not saying this is right.
I am saying that telling "IT IS HORRIBLE" is only a point of view, like telling "HE WAS RIGHT" is a point of view.

I just don't find this respectful. Many are like "I like fantsy world so much". It isn't my case, I would like to see the Reimu of "Scarlet Moon, Jasper Star" doing what she is doing in the doujin.
It is too easy to vote down people who think that it is... Well, only payback, only fair for us human.
We are always depicted as despicable, weak and you have ALWAYS a pure, innocent children who will accept the other.

But why man are obligate to be wrong? What is wrong to fight something who scare you? There are not our foe, that is right, but maybe one time, they will strike us... And human can't stand a chance. Youkai, Oni, Vampire, monster... We are weak, and because of that, we struggle.

I just want people to understand this point of view, just like I understand how despicable this man is right now.

Well, I am certainly talking to a wall but... I wanted to explan what I feel when I see something like this.
Even if someone say something who look like stupid, don't forget that you are as subjective as he is.

    Moral of the comic:

It's bad to kill people for revenge.

Also, violent ages breed violent people.

Same to you, Nevran. Weak humans standing up to stronger oppressors is one thing.

Weak humans grouping together to stand up to a powerful oppressor is one thing. Humans being paranoiacs and banding together to kill an oni who has nothing against humans for no better reason than racial discrimination is something completely different. And this "There are not our foe, that is right, but maybe one time, they will strike us" is what caused a crapload of misery throughout human history all over the world.

Good god, just a glance at Yuugi's face after the fight is over is enough to show that she is feeling remorse for killing people she doesn't want to turn into enemies, even if it was out of self-defense.

Showing others how academic we are about a comic(!) with time pressure of an upcoming exam is self insulting. Especially when you still keep on browsing danbooru images and further posting comments.

It doesn't matter how much you preach how bad those actions were and how good of a human "you" want to be. Consider ALL viewpoints of the involved parties and the symbolic meaning used here. Good or bad is not always clear like depicted by the artist. Have you ever thought...

Perhaps you could point out where any "fathers and brothers died [...] just for entertainment", then, because I'm not seeing it in this strip or any of the previous ones. Nor do I see Yuugi or the other oni ordering humans around in any fashion.

What I do see is that humans appear to be the ones starting every fight we see, and that Yuugi is clearly choosing to let at least some of her opponents live - otherwise this guy wouldn't be resenting his injury, because he'd be dead. You're starting from the position that the oni are vicious exploiters of the humans around them - but do you have any actual evidence for that claim? Any at all?

    Comment

After some thought, I decided not to reply. You can take it whatever way you would like to, but I honestly do not want to engage in a discussion now. Don't get me wrong, I did write a very long comment with most sincere and respectufl consideration of where I think you erred and where your validity might be coming from in hopes that we can have a healthy discussion, but I just don't feel like it now. I apologize to you for reacting emotionally and to any other Danbooru fairies I caused inconvenience to. You can ask me to post what I originally wrote, which I'd oblige, but I'm really asking that I be allowed out of this.

But let me get this one straight, since it's not a part of the argument and thus has nothing to do with our values and points of view. Because I wasn't trying to be academic about this comic (I hope you weren't, by any chance, meaning "showing off" how academic we were). I was being academic with your argument, because that's my field. Logic, arguments, knowledge, perception, history, aesthetics, morality. And that's the subject I was going to be tested on, and your comment had some material to write about, so I thought why not. Test myself and try to change his mind, I thought. I decided against it. Oh and I'm surprised you took that "wasted precious half an hour of my exam preparation" literally. It wasn't completely untrue, as you can see, but I wasn't really being chased by time.

    *shrugs*
Opinions, everyone has them. Just as much as everyone looks at art and history in a different way.
You see "this guy has taken a scar to the eye in the previous fight"
I see "This man is representing many and his scar is symbolising deep wounds that have seen many death and suffering"
Back when written words were rare and pictures told entire stories, interpretation was important... You know, the things that you said to be your field of expertise. (History telling Onis to be vile creatures, google it)

Well, if you think arguing is causing inconvenience, I wish you good health and balanced blood parameters
Either way it was fun juggling with you.

    Irrelevant argument

First of all, interpretation isn't important here. My problem with your comment was that I can't agree to the "good price to pay" part. Even if Yuugi were clearly depicted as a ruthless tyrant that invited no possible interpretation so that I would demand that Yuugi be taught a severe lesson of pain, I'd have said the same thing.

Secondly, you're right in saying that everyone has different opinions and viewpoints. That much is correct, and there's no 'one true interpretation', but the problem is that it doesn't mean all interpretations are equally reasonable. Your interpretation looks overly blatant and assumptive to me. A word of advice: trying to look for symbolism and representation easily results in a massive FAIL. A good example will be Puella Magi Madoka Magica.

Another flaw of your argument is that, if you attempt to defend your interpretation saying that "everyone looks at art and history in a different way", you're also accepting that anyone who has different views should also be respected. You have absolutely no liberty to say "Ever thought about how many fathers and brothers...?" because that's your interpretation and not others'. You made no attempt to even let me know of your interpretation, mind you. How am I supposed to accept, without any premise to support, that Yuugi is a tyrant? Especially when this is Touhou we're talking about, where canonically there's no one so seriously vicious, not the actual folklore?

Your grounds are weak, and the way you put forward your argument is also weak. Your argument is essentially blatant and definitely not convincing to me. But you did give me lots of things to look back about myself, so I do thank you for that, regardless of your intentions. See you again.

How typical. Saw it coming from miles away but I still tried to salvage it because... do you know what it means to have a discussion, an argument? It's not something you just bash the opponent's ideas and vent your anger on. It's supposed to be something constructive so that both sides can reach a conclusion that they can be glad to agree on. And why do you think I even bothered to write all those paragraphs if I, as you seem to think, just labeled your argument irrelevant and disregarded it? Hmm? It's so that you or anyone can give me well-reasoned argument against it, because despite what you apparently think, I consider arguments against me not as damages to my ego but as something that can actually benefit it. How about you? You never cared, and proudly. Wow, clap clap clap. Talk about arrogance. Now, when somebody tries this hard to make the discussion fruitful because he RESPECTS you and want to make it more pleasant for both, you don't give smirks and make assumptive accusations.

I don't hope to get this into your head, especially since I stopped trying to be calm and polite, so I'm really going to end it at this. Lick King out.

I don't understand. Multiple perspectives always existed, and people always fought for their own. That's what made humanity. Although it is kind of annoying to see a very long page of argument, it shouldn't be subdued.

If we think about this this way, very very cynical way, everything will seem better/worse.

I'm not quite sure on numbers because I didn't look up or anything, but I heard about 15 billion people existed on earth. (Post invention of writing) Only a handful of them everybody knows. One must be exclusively famous to be widely known like Albert Einstein or someone...

There's a very low chance for one to be known to somebody. Even if people knows the person, unless he or she is super famous, then he or she will be forgotten.

It doesn't matter what we do. No one will remember us.

We should just all give up. I mean unless you have a power to radically change the world as you please.

Now, why did I write this.
