Given how I know well enough that the whole "there are others like it on Danbooru" arguement holds no water. I still can't help but say the "Rule" of no physical doujins on this site has and probably will be borderline okay/passable. We hae plenty of Scantalated Manga Doujins on this site which shouldn't be here at all. The only actual comics Danbooru should have would have to be web comics. but damn, theres just so many Scanned manga, why go flag them now?

I flagged this NOW because I just saw Jaefine beginning to upload pool #4668 and he even intends to upload the full doujinshi after C81, believing it is OK to do so. I checked and noticed that they aren't even the original doujinshi, but Chinese HARD TRANSLATIONS. I would've flagged this doujinshi much earlier if I knew that (and Cthuluka probably didn't know either when he approved this one).

Same for Riderfan. post #1050720 should not have been approved and I don't think people would appeal for that post if they could read it.

Those are hard translated into English though, these are hard translated into Chinese. One concern here is that we have a whole extra level of translation (JP -> CN -> EN), which increases inaccuracies in translation as parts get lost in translation.

You're quite welcome to discuss and argue this in the forums. Having discussion on the matter in the comments section won't exactly get you very far, since unless this gets continually bumped it's going to get buried under comments on other images much faster than new posts in the forum.

there is already a tag that supports that and is called "hard_translated", please, if you do not know what is legal or not, learning from veteran moderators.

Thats really annoying ... even ... the "HARD TRANSLATED" part thing as a excuse for delete ... maybe the person who post this Hard Traslated this 1st ... or maybe some one who passed him the actual scaned ... but seriously ... thats annoys me when someone broke his head and a... for give us Imizu's awesomeness for us ... thats just unfair ...

Yet there's still various doujins on there... And I don't think anyone minds this. And if we leave it to Gensokyo.org it may be a year or two before we see a hard translation.

Wait, what?! I was about to post in that forum thread about Imizu is special enough to warrant an exception to the rule in the absence of a good raw, but if a raw actually does exist then I'm afraid I must support this deletion.

But if it goes through, someone should upload the raw. Uploading doujinshi is discouraged but not banned. We make exceptions for exceptional cases, and Imizu sure as hell qualifies.

Of course, but I don't think the lax policy means we should be able to upload any and all doujins of varying quality, especially when it's not even in the original language.

Before anyone like Kikimaru accuses me of something, it's because of translation quality concerns that I think we should hesitate to upload hard translated anything.

I think it's worth mentioning here that the hard translations released on Gensokyo.org are often carbon-copies of the Danbooru notes. Notice how they frequently credit "the Danbooru fairies"? That's us.

So yes, uploading here does serve a purpose. We have a lot of quality translators here complemented by a good markup system, which leads to things getting translated faster and better than they ordinarily would. I don't support turning Danbooru in a doujin dump, but this "Just wait for Gensokyo's release" argument is flawed.

That's also because some translators frequent and actively translate on both.

Anyway, that's all well and good, but is somewhat moot. Uploading here does serve some purpose, I won't deny that. I never said I was totally against it. The issue is quality control.

I don't believe uploading a hard translated Chinese version of a doujin is okay, much less most hard translated stuff, which is what this whole thing was originally about, for the most part. I don't think it's okay even if a suitable raw cannot be found. Again, this is because of concerns of translation quality.

Keep in mind, I do have other issues with Danbooru's policy and user tendencies which admittedly tie into some of my comments.

Namely, what was originally suggested in the forums as allowing only web uploads and old doujins to stay, to users uploading any old doujin, no matter what, even if it was released at Comiket or commercially or doujins which are already translated and are widely available elsewhere. In the latter case I think the only reason to do so is if there are indications the translation is iffy. But since no decision was ever made either way, my opinion is just that. However, for the most part, this paragraph is neither here or there.

But now that a raw has been found, this is even more pointless, and the Chinese version should be deleted.

Now that this version is approved, I'm going to go ahead and upload the Japanese raws.

They are higher quality than what we have here, it seems, as well, so something good came out of this.

Besides, as a translator I must also point out that obviously the original Japanese version is much, much better than translating a translated version.
