The humanoid alien from Planet Krypton, sent to Earth as an infant child. His birth name is Kal-El, and his adoptive parents name him Clark Kent. As living under a yellow sun grants Clark immense powers, such as hypersonic flight, nigh invulnerability, super strength, heat vision, a freezing breath, hypersensitive hearing, X-ray vision, and many others, he takes up the mantle of Superman - wearing a superhero costume that consists of a red cape and a bluesuit - as he performs great heroic deeds around the Earth and in the city of Metropolis.
In many crossover media, Superman is frequently depicted as a rival of Batman, primarily due to their contrasting qualities such as Superman's usage of superhuman power compared to Batman's usage of gadgets and their clashing philosophies regarding how to handle a villain.
