    サボテンダー

    Mascots of the Final Fantasy series. Based on Japanese haniwa statues, they are bent-limbed cactus creatures known for their 1000 Needles attack. They give large amounts of Ability Points, but are dodgeful and prone to run away, making them similar to Dragon Quest's metal slime.
    Their name is a portmanteau of "saboten" and "pretender"; known as Cactuars in modern English versions.
