The capital city of Georgia in the United States, and the state's most populous city by far, with over half of Georgia's total population living in Atlanta's greater metro area. Originally built as a railroad town, Atlanta was almost entirely destroyed during the American Civil War, and rebuilt practically from the ground up.
Modern-day Atlanta is one of the largest economic centers of the Southeast US, with corporate headquarters to Coca-Cola, Delta Airlines, Arby's, UPS, and more dominating the city's skyline. It is also well-known for film, television, and other productions, while its tech industry has gained the city the nickname "Silicon peach". Atlanta is also very famous for the sheer number and variety of sports teams and musical groups based in the city or originating from the city.
