A very common type of gull. Can be split into the European herring gull (pink fleshy legs and feet) and American herring gull (yellow legs and feet) but there is debate about whether they should be considered two different species.
Perhaps the most well studied gull. Has been equipped with gps trackers to locate illegal garbage dumps.
