A yuri pairing where one girl has a feminine appearance and presentation, and the other masculine.

The terms "butch" and "femme" derive from a real life lesbian subculture where masculine and feminine women seek each other out. Butch women traditionally perform masculinity on a level beyond that of the usual tomboy, while femmes are often seen as invisible in their lesbian identity due to their femininity.
