The meme sprung out from a Tweet by Vessyteena captioned I've never seen a guy recreate this successfully tbh with a cropped version of suko mugi's Hypnosis Mic comic (post #6149751) , which depicts Busujima Rio Mason doing the same in a fitting room.

The tweet picked up steam within the fandom and the BL and bara communities, with imitators dropping the fitting room context and sometimes adding motion lines like in the original comic. Variations of the meme will often have the characters be drawn as topless, unlike the original which kept Busujima fully clothed.
