load bearing equipment
A type of gear that is worn around the combatant's waist and utilizes suspenders to help balance the load. It has pouches that contain items important for combat such as ammunition, canteen, combat knife, entrenching tool, grenade, magazine, sidearm, and more. Also known as combat harness.
The Russian military SMERSH is a prominent example.
