metropolis

メトロポリス

Metropolis (Metoroporisu) is a classic science fiction manga created by Tezuka Osamu and released in 1949. It was adapted into an anime movie in 2001.

The original manga was loosely inspired by a classic 1927 German silent sci-fi movie also called Metropolis.

Its anime adaptation, however, was more heavily influenced by the plot of the German film. It was directed by Rintaro, written by Ootomo Katsuhiro and produced by Madhouse with conceptual support from Tezuka Productions.
