In-game, the is the weakest playable class until the highest experience levels, where it becomes the statistical best. In the Nintendo DS remake, it was made a secret, late-game class (Freelancer becoming default). This class has appeared in other FINAL FANTASY titles in recent years.

• The Onion Knight of DISSIDIA FINAL FANTASY, a young, blonde-haired, green-eyed boy (similar to Ingus) in the trademark armor.
• The Onion Knight class from the PlayStation Portable version of FINAL FANTASY TACTICS, available to either gender.
