A Playstation 2 RPG and part of the Persona series of the Megami Tensei franchise, released July 10, 2008 in Japan, December 9, 2008 in North America and March 13, 2009 in Europe.
The game follows a high school junior who, due to his parents' work overseas, moves from the city to the rural town of Inaba to live for a year with his uncle and local policeman Doujima Ryoutarou and his six-year-old daughter Nanako. With his new friends from the local high school, he investigates a series of inexplicable murders and the truth about a TV channel that only appears during midnight, armed with Personas, materialized aspects of their personalities.
Received a enhanced port on the Playstation Vita, and later Microsoft Windows, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and S and Nintendo Switch, entitled Persona 4 the Golden. It is set in the same universe as its predecessor, Persona 3. A fighting game, Persona 4: The Ultimate in Mayonaka Arena, also acts as a direct sequel to the game.
A remaster titled Persona 4 Revival was announced June 8, 2025.
Another spinoff is the novel Persona X Detective, taking place 1 year after the events of Persona 4.
