regaleira (racehorse)

Named after the Quinta da Regaleira, in Sintra, Portugal, near Lisbon proper.

Japanese racehorse. Sired by Suave Richard and foaled by Roca. Stellenbosch and Urban Chic are her first cousins and contemporaries (they share a granddam in Land's Edge).

She is famous for winning the 2023 Hopeful Stakes (normally for 2-year-old colts), attempting to challenge the Triple Crown, then winning the 2024 Arima Kinen, being the first 3-year-old filly to win the race in 64 years, edging out Shahryar by a nose. Afterwards, she would have yet another historical win at the 2025 All Comers, the first graded race in Japan where siblings finished 1-2, her elder brother Douradores completed the quinella. She would afterwards win the 2025 Queen Elizabeth II Cup, proving that she can actually win big outside of Nakayama.
