ローゼンクロイツスティレッテ Rosenkreuzstilette RosenkreuzStilette
Rosenkreuzstilette is a doujin soft game created by the indie company [erka:es]. It's known for being similar in game mechanics to the Mega man series and also borrows elements from the Castlevania series. It contains nods to the Order of the Rose-Cross and is a polar opposite of the Rockman series, with female Magi as opposed to the male Robot Masters and magical, serene and beautiful settings with a comical German horror theme as opposed to Rockman's futuristic setting with a comical robot theme.
The game revolves around people with the gift of magic. These people are known as "Magi". For years, the Magi were feared and persecuted by the Holy Empire and the Orthodox Church, until a man named Rosenkreuz stood up to them and led his eight disciples in a war against them, ultimately sacrificing his life to have the Empire accept the Magi as part of their military. From that point, the Magi became known as RKS: Rosenkreuzstilette, the Blades of the Rose-Cross. Years had passed since then and the persecution seemed like a thing of the past, but to RKS, it was not forgotten. Eventually, RKS believed they would be the target of persecution again and that the Empire was bringing them back down and disrespecting their former leader Rosenkreuz. They decided to use their power to claim dominance and end their "persecution" once and for all, so their leader Count Michael Zeppelin commanded Freudia Neuwahl to lead a rebellion against the Empire in hopes to put it in its place. A few decades later, the heroine, Spiritia Rosenberg, returns home to find her friends caught up in a holy war. Knowing that the battle is already over, Spiritia disagrees with their way of doing things and, aided by Lilli, takes it upon herself to stop the others at RKS, eventually fighting her way up to Count Zeppelin himself. Unbeknownst to her and the rest of RKS, however, someone else is indeed pulling the strings, having RKS fight against the Empire for their own amusement...
