touhou igyoukyo
Touhou Igyoukyo ~ Grotesque Land Story is a series of videos made by Nico Nico Douga user Sushi Yuusha Toro (who also made Black Souls), telling a harrowing and violent story about and alternate version of Gensokyo and its inhabitants being hunted by mysteriously mutated creatures known as “variants”, and trying their best to survive in duels more violent than the danmaku ones in canon. It is well-known in the Japanese Touhou fandom, enough to draw some comparisons with Koishi Komeiji's Heart-Throbbing Adventure.
Characters
- Variant Reimu - A corrupted and twisted version of Reimu, with the face of a yin-yang whose two halves form a toothy, vertical mouth and the two smaller circles forming black eyes. She also grows metal needles on her back, which are used as weapons. Can seemingly only speak through clicking and clattering.
- Variant Marisa - A sadistic and extremely deadly version of Marisa, whose face is unnaturally blackened, with only her eyes being darker. Has no visible mouth either, but otherwise looks and sounds identical to "prime universe" Marisa.
- Variant Reisen - A beastly, monstrous version of Reisen with a combat-oriented build, sporting heavy body armor and multifunction arm cannon, although she still wears a skirt. She also curiously only speaks in broken English, like the other moon rabbit variants.
- Variant Yuuka - Deviant and sadistic version of Yuuka, who is attached to an amalgam of carnivorous plants. Her main body appears nearly identical to prime Yuuka, save for the suggestive clothing.
- Variant Keine - A colossal and monstrous version of Keine's werehakutaku form with numerous extra limbs, eyes, and mouths. Her still-human-like head is attached to a long neck, although her face is twisted into itself, appearing as a spiral, until untwisted to reveal that she looks identical to normal Keine.
- Variant Mokou - A titanic, skeletal phoenix-human monster version of Mokou that is in a constant state of emanating a firestorm.
- Variant Youmu - A corrupted version of Youmu covered head-to-toe in heavy scars and with an extra pair of arms. Her ghost-half has a sharp-toothed mouth and appears to have been impaled several times. Has yet to make an actual appearance within the series; she is mostly seen in standalone art of the series.
- Tina Flavor - An original character of the series, she is a tea fairy. Her variant version is highly deformed with long limbs, but retains certain clothing aspects and an association with tea.
