transcoded
A transcoded post is a video that has been encoded into a different format, or re-encoded in the same format at a different bitrate (also known as 'transrating') before uploading it to Danbooru. This is usually done for compatibility reasons, or to reduce the file size so it fits under the file size limit.
Codecs
Danbooru only supports the following file formats and codecs:
Container | Video | Audio |
---|---|---|
WebM | VP8, VP9, AV1 | Vorbis, Opus |
MP4 | AVC (H.264), HEVC, VP9, AV1 | MP3, AAC, Opus |
Furthermore, videos with 10-bit color (aka HDR), and videos with 4:4:4 chroma subsampling are also unsupported.
When uploading a transcoded video, please leave a comment which settings you've used for future reference, and if possible a link to the original file.
