The current turnaround is kinda disappointing but I think most of us were waiting for it to happen.
Yeah, I was also disappointed, was hoping to see some good Meiling dominating Sakuya in a match all the way through. But I guess the artist might be going with: 'Stage number = Power' idea eventually. Regardless I'll still read this.

In non danmaku combat Sakuya should be a lot weaker then Meiling.

I think the big thing for me will be if Meiling cannot simply brush the attacks off like Sakuya did.

I agreed, but IMO, an excellent match isn't always one-sided. Anyway, it depends on the artist's thoughts. Still, I hope Meiling can win this match. >:D
Elegant Sakuya: -Sent flying -Dropping knife -Doing a handstand recovery -Closing distance with Breakdance turning handstand -Kick to the head while doing handstand
Ohh boy... This is so americun and you lost me there.

Oh, I dunno about that. There are plenty of other Touhou doujins that are just as crazy; I don't really see the American-ness from your list. I mean, yes, it's Gensokyo USA and it's obviously and unabashedly American for a lot of reasons, but your list doesn't really make that clear to me.
Anyway, the fight's nowhere near over, I don't think. Meiling had a really strong start, one that cost Sakuya quite a lot judging by her double-bleeder and nearly-blinded eyes, so I wouldn't call the fight for either side just yet. There's still plenty of time for further upsets.

Well by the next page it seems to be the case.
Still would have liked a pure beating by Meiling though
