Curiosity time. If it's at 4k yen per person, how could it possibly reach clean 110k? Was there half a kappa in there (Yeah, no...) or is the host being charged a different amount of money than that of other participants? Or am I overthinking this far too much?

Could be foods ands drinks ? There were pancakes a few strips ago.
I'd brought a fair portion of money, just in case, so I was a little surprised when the total was so much in excess of that amount. :-)
It was ¥4000 per person x 20 people + food costs, so the total in the last panel is correct, but the sound of "one hundred thousand yen" still gives me chills.
By the way, the proper title of the song from yesterday's strip is "Lord Vegeta's Cooking Hell!! ~ 'Okonomiyaki' Chapter ~".
Reader-added tags include "An amount high enough to make your eyes fall out", "A clerk good enough to flub the total", and " Blank-face Kogasa-san".
The survey knows too much of something can be unsettling:
What startles you by being high? • Meal costs • Karaoke costs • Anime Blu-Ray DVD costs • Amount spent at an expo/spot sale • The pile of books I bought
This karaoke clerks have caught the Yamame virus, and she hasn't even come to do karaoke, not yet. (I hope it's going to happen soon.) That doesn't seem too bad, considering they went that long with that many people. Still, hearing a total like that after going straight at anything for 18 hours would be quite the shock to the system! Congrats, Kogasa-san, you hung in there!
For the poll, the closest choice to cons is at an expo/spot sale, and I did blow a lot of money on stuff the last time I went to a convention. Totally worth it, though
I've never fallen prey to this kind of situation where the cost of something takes me by surprise. I always work out my planned expenses ahead of time (like going out to eat and such) since I was raised in a not well-off family.
I went to a steakhouse in north Dallas once and it wasn't until the check arrived that I discovered it was à la carte. It took me about a minute to pick my jaw up off the ground.

All above...
Surprise CostThat matches up, but hearing it formally, it's still a heck of a total...See you when you get back!Dinnng☆Beep
