Clearly, you haven't seen girls that would ask you whether you said it looked good because she had said so or not. I have, actually, she's my cousin's wife now. Have to say my cousin's really something to be able to find that about her to be cute.

That's where the "careful about the way you say it" part comes in. If you JUST say you like choice B because "it looks good" or something, you'll raise suspicions. If you give a convincing supporting argument, it will fly. ("The red because it brings out the color of your eyes." or something.)
