Here's a little fact. Bulls are NOT irritated by the red color, they are color-blind to red (like most cattle). It is the movement of the piece of cloth that provokes them. Meaning that as long as you are whipping a cape or something similar in front of them, high chance is they will charge at you (the cape).
P/s: I find it amusing how Kuu's handkerchief landed right on top of her face when she was down on the ground.

Also that the clothe's held off to the side of the matador, so it makes it look like the side of a rival bull encroaching upon the enraged one's turf. Which is why they go for the cloth instead of the person--they're tricked into thinking there's more to hit.
