Isn't it like two decades early for that, though? WWI was a much more messy war, where neither side could be called good or evil. I mean, hell - it started because someone assassinated a prince of one of Germany's allies, and germany chose to defend them when Russia declared war against said ally. Hell, chat scene in Episode 5 was no joke - that stuff literally happened in WWI. Well, minus the magic, but in regards to sheer firepower and the fact that nobody, not even those leading the attack, realized how deadly they had become with no means of defense against it. Heck, Germany probably didn't even need to cross into Belgium to get around France's forts when france declared war. If they knew what they had, they'd probably have just chewed through them like paper and the outcome of WWI would have been very different.
