If you look at his pixiv or danbooru history of work you can see that hibiki is around 30% or more of all the other drawings. So yes, it is fair to say Hibiki has been his favorite for quite a while. Heck, I commend him for not pushing onto the forefront of the story until now... not nearly as much at least.
