Has anyone here actually tried stargazy pie? I mean it looks terrifying but looks can be deceiving.
Also part of me was expecting a giant pie with swordfishes sticking out the top.
Tried it, gagged. Seriously, the fishy smell alone when you cut it up is overwhelming even with pre-steamed in olive oil fish (slightly removes the fishy smell), adding slices of yuzu lemon (masks the fish scent) and using nori salt (gives almost ocean smell). Still can't be eaten, gave it to the cats.

That's kind of based upon hating the smell (and presumably, taste) of fish, though.
If anyone could eat it, it would probably be the Japanese, who will eat basically anything they can dredge from the water, even if it's poisonous.
So yeah, fish pie with some of the fish heads still attached ain't nothing. The only thing they'd complain about is that they cooked the pie too much or that it has too much oil, and you can't appreciate the full fishy smell.
If it's only the smell, I could stand it (since sashimis are one of my fav food) but it's not only the smell that is offensive, you could really make a decent fish pie using OTHER kind of fishes, head not included...wait, the root of all problem is because they used the head as decoration. The remnants of blood on the gills and the fats layering on the mouth is the culprit that produces all kind of foul smell when baked.
But adding on NWSiaCB's comment on 'eat-all-you-dredge-from-sea', don't forget that Japanese also eats things you don't usually eat growing on the land: burdock root, for example.
Probably not - going by the pool's description it's only for truly disgusting foods and such. While one could definitely argue that stargazy pie is disgusting, there are (apparently) plenty of people who like it, unlike the other horrors that are in the pool.
Also, I just realized there's a Swordfish airplane in the pie as well. Given that Warspite is serving it to Arc though, I don't think either of them mind too much.

At one point in time I claimed that I liked every food that uses the moniker of "pie". As a result my asshole friends introduced me to a stargazy pie and I doubted that it was a realistic pie. Pilchards in pie is all well and good, but who would keep the heads sticking out?
After a brief search I found that the pie before me was actually a real British pie and surrendered myself to be proven wrong on my claim. Turns out that stargazy pie is actually pretty good. Probably helps that I love sardines.
