As much as I love the likes of Cleveland and Akagi, why add more clones of them? They're already popular, and for other characters, like Ping Hai and Ning Hai, they're just releasing new skins.
Can they at least just be the same character in a different outfit, or are they just going to make the Polaris builds totally separate characters? I don't want this game to walk down the same path that Fate did, because part of what made me like AL in the first place is how its lore wasn't all over the place, unlike other gacha games.

Yeah, but little kid or chibi versions of the same character aren't that uncommon, especially in animé. Who went and said, "Yeah, I want the exact same character as Admiral Hipper, except she's an idol, but I don't want the original Hipper to just have a new costume and lines"?
Especially considering one of the new characters will be Gascogne, who hasn't been added to EN yet. I mean, people were already raising their eyebrows when Hiei-chan debuted before Hiei...
Looks at Granblue Fantasy Well, it is common enough thing. Too bad people don't raise many complaints about it.

If it is any consolation, EN hasn't announced anything about this yet. Still, won't surprise me if they still add this event before PR2.

Within the lore of the game dupes are no big deal and neither are modified dupes (which is what the kid ships essentially are), so I don't see the issue.
Call me crazy, but as an F2P player who spent his gems on mostly dock space and never enough for skins, I'm glad she is getting released as a seperate character. Sure, they could've given us this skin for free, but I'll take it with AL's gacha rate being so generous as it is. I've only missed Graf Zeppelin and Deutshcland (freaking map drop rates) so far out of every limited event.
