I think its because she was the first one and now realizes how embarrassing it is to pose like that, kind of like when you look back at your teenage years when you're in your late 20's and think to yourself "was i really this like this?"

She might have been the first American shipgirl added, but Colorado and South Dakota are her elders in terms of battleships (Colorado by about two decades while South Dakota only by a year or two).
