It's been a while since I watched K&M, but from what I understand I'm guessing Kerhilt never actually piloted anything in the show. SRW30 put her in the base Tyranto grunt unit as a recurring named enemy, so Ishiyumi designed this ace custom based on that.

She has her own custom unit (wn/novel & anime/manga) which is total opposite design of Tyranto. Her unit eschew heavy armor in favor of high speed and hidden weapons, which ironically, she was done in by Edgar whom she defeated before and his unit was Earlcumber, a unit that only wield a great sword and dual heavy shields.
