That whole encryption thing was a hoax/meme that somehow managed to get even bigger than Roadhog's ass.

If you search for the headline that was going around "Overwatch 2 Will Encrypt its 3D characters" with any decent search engine, you'll see that you won't get any links to news articles, because it doesn't exist.

Also, in the full screenshot that pops up (the one with the ballgag on Tracer), you'll see that the author of that article is "Alan Smithy"; A reference to a very common fake name (Alan Smithee) used by directors in the movie industry.

I suspected as much, but I hoped otherwise, because it would've been hilarious to see Blizzard putting effort into encrypting their characters and the characters being hacked anyway in hours by hordes of horny coomers.
Oh well. Reality is always disappointing anyway.
