Danbooru has an approval standard that's higher than most imageboards. Seeing your own art getting not only downvoted, but outright rejected by the site itself can be very demoralizing.
It's why I think the ban on self-uploads was better, if you're art is good enough to convince a stranger to share your art, it means you're improving.

But it is a place for art, is it not? And low quality or not, which is subjective, it is still art.
Danbooru is a place for high quality art, which sure, is subjective, but this is clearly not on the same level as most of what can be found on Danbooru. The criticism you would get here isn't likely to be constructive, anyway, people are just going to be mean because they don't come here to feel like they're browsing unfiltered DA or Pixiv.

Can you show me where the rules say that? I couldn't find it.
Its a curated imageboard, not really a place for people to upload their own art. Whether or not a particular piece of art is good or bad isn't up to the uploader but approvers. Its not really a good place to get criticism since for the most part, its people who aren't the artist uploading. The most input you'll get is "approver didn't approve this post."
Thank you for donating your spare time to help the Danbooru collection grow. While we need a constant supply of new images to keep our collection fresh and up to date, we must make it clear that Danbooru has stricter quality standards compared to most galleries of its kind. Before you upload your first image, please keep in mind that not everything you upload might be approved. While we understand that quality can be an extremely subjective measure, and we cannot exactly define what "good enough" means, you can browse the gallery of approved posts to get an idea of what is acceptable.
Not a rule in the strictest sense, but the point should be clear enough: Danbooru is not Pixiv, DA, Twitter, Newgrounds, or anywhere else. It is not a place for people to just upload anything they feel like, this site has standards. Art like this post is without question below that standard. It has been deleted (which really just hides it from immediate view) and should the uploader persist in uploading images of this level of quality, they will be banned.
