Hahaha, oh wow. I love it because I can completely relate to it. (I'd assume pretty much everyone who has played the games can relate to it.) I like picturing Hikari just biking in circles nearby and coming back over to check with him every few minutes. I never thought about how silly and totally bizarre that would look if it actually played out.
Odd thing is, no matter how many Pokémon you send there to mate, that old couple never figures it out. They still think that the eggs are just "mysteriously" appearing there.
I just biked straight up and down until trees stopped me.
By the way, if this were a real-life scenario, how the fuck can trees stop you without you crashing and falling off your bike? Hell, I don't think there's even wooded areas with trees THAT close together. You figure you'd just whiz right past them!
I once took two Rattata that I caught and sent them to the old couple. In no time an egg was present. Once it hatched I bred it with a freshly caught Rattata. Once they had an egg and it hatched I gave it to the old couple with one of the first Rattata (the grandmother Rattata). Did they produce an egg? See for yourself.

Who wants that many Ratata? Are you breeding a FEAR team or something? Or are shorts just comfortable and easy to wear?
Anyways, I think everyone uses the route 209 - 210 pass through Solaceon to breed and hatch eggs unless you feel like going through Victory Road to get to Seabreak Path.
Yes, no need for refreshing the poketch, or periodically leaving the route to refresh his location, when you get in front of him on the road in front of the day care, he shouts Heeey, (trainer name)! Come here!
