Straight to the point, the teamwork tag includes both collaborative sexual acts and actual teamwork, as in working together to achieve something mundane or in a competition. So, the question is, should the tag be overhauled to remove the sexual posts or the tag itself should be nuked altogether?

You'd just be creating another tied_up/bondage situation, where the nonsexual tag continues getting contaminated with sex posts, and the sex posts get split between two different tags.
I don't see what's wrong with just leaving the tag as it is. If you don't want sex in your search results, teamwork -rating:e gets the job done. The closest thing I found to a false negative in that search was post #2883332, and anyone not wanting to see collaborative handjobs or paizuri probably doesn't want to see tentacles emerging from a woman's nether regions either.

But unlike the tied_up/bondage situation, if someone were to search teamwork they would instantly see the both tags, the sexual and the nonsexual ones, so it would be very unlikely someone would make a mistake when tagging these. Searching teamwork -rating:e might be a solution, but I don't see it as very intuitive for the average user... It wouldn't be the first time a tag is disambiguated like that as well, see piledriver_(sex)/piledriver_(wrestling).
