I was thinking that maybe we might start tagging the various media that artists use in the works under traditional_media, and figured it would be worth discussing. Now, last I recall, the word was "Danbooru is an art site"; I've seen a number of artists mention coming here for inspiration, reference, etc.; we have pools of examples and tutorial images; and we have an increasing number of images.
From what I've seen, artists Pixiv and otherwise tend to note their medium so the information is there, if not usually all that relevant (we have thousands of images that were made with SAI or Photoshop). But for someone wanting to examine the applications of various graphite techniques on Danbooru, they'd presumably go for traditional_media monochrome and wade through almost a thousand images.
I suppose that's not terrible, in all reality (a good deal of that particular query is delightfully skilled, after all), but neither is it future-proof. What if there's 5000 instead of 975 returned? It's a foreseeable future. It also lacks granularity. What if they were looking for acrylic or printmaking instead?
For the record, I'll note that we have a tentative start for watercolours and ink (I'd like to take this opportunity to clean that up too, actually. My bad).
